Sage & Mushroom Tart

One thing we really love about cooking from the garden is seeing how a very simple meal can come to life with fresh, tasty produce. This recipe is an excellent example of that – a few simple ingredients topped with fresh Sage from the garden – easy and delicious for those busy weeknights or lazy weekend lunches.

Sage & Mushroom Tart

Ingredients
  • 2 sheets of puff pastry
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 3 cups mushrooms sliced
  • 2 garlic cloves finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • ½ cup of sage leaves
  • 1 egg
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees.
  2. In a medium pan, heat the butter on medium-high heat. Add the garlic and mushrooms and saute for 3-5 minutes, until the golden brown.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk the egg and olive oil together.
  4. Place the puff pastry sheets on a baking paper lined tray. Brush with olive oil and egg mix.
  5. Top with shredded cheese, mushroom mix and sage leaves. Season with salt and pepper.
  6. Place tarts in oven and bake for 15 mins or until cheese is melted and edges of pastry are golden brown.
  7. Garnish with a few extra sage leaves.
